How To Organize a Coco Chanel Birthday Party? Fancy putting on a birthday party with a touch of class? When you want to add a bit of elegance to your birthday party, why not try something totally different?
One lady who certainly knew a thing or two about the class was Coco Chanel. I have to be honest, I love Chanel and everything about the brand. So, when my birthday came around, I decided that I would organize a Coco Chanel Birthday party.
How Can You Organize a Coco Chanel Birthday Party Without Spending a Fortune?
If you have ever visited a Chanel store, you will know that they are glitzy and glamorous affairs. Of course, you are not going to shop for Coco Chanel’s genuine stuff. That would just cost way too much money. But, that does not mean you can’t re-create the Coco Chanel atmosphere.
Anyway, I got my thinking cap on and managed to re-create a Coco Chanel atmosphere on a budget. Here is how I did it.
Think Gold Or Silver
When you want to create a luxury atmosphere, think gold. Take a closer look at Chanel, and you will see that gold pops up almost everywhere. It is on the brand’s perfume bottles, skincare, and make-up range. Even the buttons on their famous jackets are gold! In other words, gold is a must.
It can be expensive to use a gold theme, but you work your way around it. Here are some ideas that I hope that you may like.
Metallic Gold Balloons
It goes without saying that you are not going to cover the entire room or house in gold. What I decided to do instead was to use gold as an accent color. When you do that, you can make almost any color pop.
As I wanted to create an immediate impact when my guests walked in through the door, I bought gold balloons.

Gold Wrapping Paper & Ribbon
Oh, I almost forgot, you will need gold wrapping paper as well. This is the gold wrapping paper I used and this is the link to my gold ribbon. If you choose metallic colors, the display will look even more amazing.
As I saved a lot of money on my balloons and bits. I did splash out on helium. I wanted all of the guests to take at least a couple of balloons home with them.
Making up the balloon display is easy. I took a couple of large rocks, put ribbons on the balloons, and tied them to the rocks. Once I had done that, I put the wrapping paper around the rocks and finished the display off with my already crimped ribbon. Then I was ready to place the displays on the table and in the entrance hall. I even put it on display outside.
The Cake
Yes, you need to have a cake. But, as we all know, buying cakes is expensive. If you are on a tight budget, you can always make your own. That is exactly what I did.
But, before I started my cake, I made cut out the iconic Chanel logo and turned it into a stencil using oven-proof paper.
When I finished the cake, I covered it in thick luscious cream cheese topping. The reason I used cream cheese is simple. It stays looking good for longer and is firmer.
Cake Decorating Gold
When I had added the cream cheese, I put my Chanel stencil on the cake and filled in the stencils with edible gold glitter. You can get your gold glitter right here.
High Heels DecoSet Cake Decoration
If you love Chanel as much as I do, you will know Coco loved high heels. My cake needed something to give it even more character. So, I bought a high-heeled shoe decoration and added it to the cake. It looked awesome.
What to Eat
You are going to have something delicious to eat at your Coco Chanel birthday party.
Nice ladies don’t want to smudge their lipstick or ruin their manicures. So you really don’t want to give them anything messy to eat.
This is the part of the task that I found most challenging. I was not sure at all and spent ages hunting around for inspiration.
Yes, I could go to a catering company, but I knew that would cost me a lot of money. It was not long before I came up with the perfect solution – finger foods!
The Party Food Bible
Had I made finger foods before? No, I had never made finger foods. Yes, I was the queen of cakes, but finger foods had so far eluded me. That was before I came across this fantastic finger food cookbook. If you are looking for little delicacies to serve at your birthday party, this is the book for you.
All of the nibbles are super easy to make. What I really liked about them, is that they both tasted good and looked super elegant. Fun Stuff To Do at The Party
Bunny Hunt
You do want to plan some activities to ensure your guests enjoy themselves. As my birthday is very close to Easter, I came up with a different idea for an Easter egg hunt.
Instead of calling it an Easter Egg hunt, I called it a Bling Bunny Hunt.
I cut bunny shapes out of paper and put a wooden stick on the back of them. When you want to do this, make sure that you use rather stiff paper so that the bunny stands up.
Naturally, I managed to spray all of the bunnies gold. They also had cute little pink noses and white fluffy ears. Once I finished, I put a bracelet around each of them and put them in the garden.
Don’t worry, the bracelets cost next to nothing. I bought them online and all of the guests really loved their nice bracelets. You need to check my bracelets for my Bling Bunnies out – they are just so Chanel!
What Do You Drink At a Coco Chanel Birthday Party?
Those of you who know anything about Chanel will know that she liked champagne.
I have to say that I pushed out the boat a little bit on drink. I did buy bottles of champagne to make everyone feel special.
Alcohol-Free Champagne
If you don’t want to give your guests alcohol, you can try a non-alcoholic beverage instead. As long as you have really nice glasses, you can serve up an alternative to alcohol and it will still look like a million dollars. I went for this one. I thought it looked like a champagne bottle. At the same time, it made it perfectly clear that it was alcohol-free.
I loved the fact that I did not have to go to the shops. Shopping for everything online is so much easier. As a matter of fact, these days, you can get almost anything online.
The actual champagne I went for was a brand-name one. Needless to say, it is a glass of pink champagne. I don’t know about you, but I think that there is something special about pink champagne.
Sitting Down and Taking Your Weight Off Your Feet
I realized all the girls were going to turn up wearing something faux Chanel. High heels are very much part of the Chanel style of dressing. Just to be on the safe side, I made up a couple of tables where the girls could take their weight off their feet.
If you want to contrast your gold, there are several colors that you can go for. To make sure that my tables looked nice, I decked them out with small plates, candles, and table cloths.
I thought long and hard about paper table cloths. I wasn’t sure at all, to be honest. It took me a long time to decide if I wanted to have plastic table cloths or not.
Yes, I could have gone out and bought actual tablecloths. I did have a look around, but they are just too expensive. it would probably be okay if I were going to organize another Coco Chanel party, but I think that I will go for another theme next time. Perhaps Breakfast at Tiffany’s or something like that.
Tablecloth
After a bit of hunting around, I did manage to find some really nice plastic tablecloths. Gold would have been tempting but I must admit that I felt I needed to break up the gold. I liked these ones as they are sheer and don’t look as bold as many other tablecloths, Yes, I paid a little bit more for my sheer pink tablecloths, but in my opinion, they were worth every dime I paid for them.
I am sure that if you are very careful with these table cloths you can use them many times. If they do look a bit worse for wear, you can probably turn them into other things. It is best to try to recycle plastic objects as much as possible when you can.
What About Invitations?
I know that it is okay to send out digital invitations, but I think that there is something special about getting an invitation in the post. As I knew the postal addresses of all of my guests, I decided to send them out in the post and ask them to RSVP.
You are not going to believe this, all my guests decided that they could make it. To be honest, I thought they were probably curious more than anything. But no, as it were, we ended up having a really good time and I got nice birthday presents.
I am pretty sure that all of my guests appreciated all of the efforts I had gone to when it came to making my Coco Chanel birthday party special.
If you are looking for invitations to send out, you can find lots of nice stuff online. I think that I may have gone a little bit over the top. But, then again, I was really aware that I wanted to create interest.
Gold Foil Invitations
So, I ended up spending a lot of time looking for the perfect invitations for my party. It took me some time but eventually, I came across these birthday invitations. They are just so Chanel and I love them.
I bought a nice pen and took my time filling them in. I also got some envelopes which I filled with small dried rose petals. Did I spray them with a Chanel perfume? Of course, I did. This was going to be the most stylish party of the year.
What Do You Wear For the Most Stylish Party of The Year?
If you don’t have anything genuine Chanel in your wardrobe, don’t worry. There are plenty of faux Chanel clothes out there.
But, you should also take your time and check out your local stores. When you are looking for designer and brand clothing such as Chanel, second-hand and consignments shops are the best places to go. I have been shopping in this way for a few years now, and I have been able to pick up a few pieces.
You will have to be patient and really look around to find Chanel clothes. When you do find it, you should immediately snap it up. Remember that Chanel clothes often become collectible. Before you know it, the item of clothing you bought is going to be worth a lot more.
In Conclusion
When you want to put together a Coco Chanel birthday party, it is best to start planning early rather than late. Get all of the things together and start decorating.
Also, write down any party activity ideas that you may have. And oh – it is nice for your guests to go home with a few memories. So, you want to keep that in mind as well.
